Desert Design Workshop

Design a sculptural succulent garden in a one-of-a -kind handmade ceramic planter from Art School PDX. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore composition and spacing using thoughtfully selected plants, stone, and layered textures., propagation techniques, and long-term care.

We’ll provide everything needed for the workshop, including:

  • Succulent Basics Presentation & Brochure

  • A variety of ceramic pots (handmade by Art School PDX!) and succulents (both cuttings and full plants)

  • Soil, gloves, trays, and planting tools

Each participant will create a 4-5" succulent planter featuring 3–5 different succulents.  In addition to their new little garden, attendees will leave with:

  • Tips on mixing their own succulent/cactus soil

  • Guidance on propagating succulents from leaves and cuttings

  • Care tips for long-term succulent success

The beloved St. Johns Bizarre returns Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown St. Johns! (Find us at N. Philadelphia and N. Lombard — and all across the surrounding blocks!) We'll be serving up another a dynamite lineup of musicians, artisans, makers, creators, food vendors, community groups, and more, all ready to go — so you can sing, dance, eat, shop, and make merry 'til your heart's delight.
